He was murdered and succeeded by his ambitious nephew Alauddin Khilji in A. D 1296. Alauddin Khilji wanted to become a world conqueror and called himself the second Alexander (Sikander-i-sani). Alauddin Khilji is known for his market control system. Malik Kafur was the general of Alauddin Khilji.
