JAM Exam is conducted for Admission to M.Sc (2 Year), Joint M.Sc - PhD, M.Sc - PhD Dual Degree, M.Sc - M.Tech and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programs at (IIT) & IISc

The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conduct the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM) for admission to Integrated Ph.D Programmes at IISc Bangalore and M.Sc (2 Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D Dual Degree, M.Sc - M.Tech., M.Sc -M.S. (Research)/PhD Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree Programmes at IITs. Main objective of JAM is to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students across the country. 

It is awaited that the research infrastructure, the inter-disciplinary interaction and the vibrant academic environment of IISc Bangalore and IITs will motivate these students to pursue R&D careers in frontier areas of basic sciences as well as inter-disciplinary areas of science and technology.

JAM 2015 qualified students will also have to appear for an interview for admission to the following programs: 

i) Integrated Ph.D Degree at IISc Bangalore 

ii) M.Sc (2 Years), Joint M.Sc -Ph.D, M.Sc - Ph.D Dual Degree, M.Sc - M.Tech., M.Sc -M.S. (Research) /PhD Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor’s Degree Programmes at IITs 

IIT JAM 2015 will be administered by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. In the basis of performance in IIT JAM 2015, applicants shall be admitted to postgraduate programs of the following IITs: 

1. Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IITBBS) 

2. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) 

3. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) 

4. Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN)

7. Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IITI)

Online Registration and Application Process: 03rd Sept 2014 

Last Date for Payment : 30th Sept 2014 

Closing of Online Application Procedure: 09th October 2014 

JAM 2015 Examination: 08th February 2015

JAM 2015 Exam Pattern 

JAM 2015 has 7 test papers out of which a applicant can appear for either one or a maximum of two test papers There is an additional fee for taking the second test paper Candidates planning to take two test papers must ensure that the tests' dates don't clash


JAM 2015 Application Fee

Fee for ONE Test paper 
i) Female candidates (all category) Rs.750/-. 

ii) Male & Others candidates (General /OBC) Rs.1500/-. 

iii) Male candidates (SC/ST/PD) Rs.750/- Fee for TWO Test Papers i) Female candidates (all categories) Rs.1050/-. ii) Male & Others candidates (General /OBC) Rs.2100/-. iii) Male candidates (SC/ST/PD) Rs.1050/- 

Application Procedure: The information brochure and all other information related to JAM 2015 will be available on the web portal: http://www.iitg.ernet.in/jam2015 (or) http://www.iitg.ac.in/jam2015. Candidate can register and apply ONLINE only for JAM 2015 from 3rd September to 9th October 2014. The application fee can be paid either online or through SBI challan via.  Additional bank charges may apply for the above transactions. The application fee is non refundable. In case a candidate chooses to pay through SBI challan, then the SBI challan payment should be made in cash at any State Bank of India branch latest by 30th September 2014 (Tuesday). The candidates are advised to visit the JAM 2015 website regularly for any updates. If you pay the fee through challan, then you should take its print out to any branch of State Bank of India for fee payment. Details of this payment will automatically get updated in your JAM 2015 account.

Eligibility Requirements

Admission For IISc Bangalore: First class (as published by the university) for Un‐Reserved/OBC category candidates and second class (as published by the University) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree. 

Admission For IIT Guwahati: At least (a) 55% marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, in Major /Honors and Pass in all other subjects, as well as Languages and Subsidiaries or (b) 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CPI in a scale of 10,  taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, for Un‐Reserved/OBC(NCL) Category Candidates; and at least (a) 50% marks or 5.5 CPI in a scale of 10,  in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, as well as Languages and Subsidiaries, or (b) 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined, for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates, in the qualifying degree 

Admission For all other IITs: At least 55% aggregate marks,  (taking into account all subjects, as well as languages and subsidiaries, all years shared) for Un‐Reserved/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, (taking into account all subjects, as well as languages and subsidiaries, all years shared) for SC/ST and PwD Category candidates in the qualifying degree For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s) 

Note: Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required admissibility, as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th Sept 2015 Reservation Policy is as per Government of India norms
